Community Service

Community Service Projects are a great opportunity for our members to volunteer, fundraise, enjoy the company of others, and directly benefit our community. We try to respond to specific needs, making targeted contributions rather than general donations. We also provide ongoing services to local residents, often partnering with other organizations and businesses.

Here are some of the many rewarding activities our members have been involved in:
  • Running weekly driving tours of MidCoast Maine for Quarry Hill seniors
  • Distributing $36,000 in college scholarships for local high school graduates
  • Organizing Camden's annual 4th of July concert with the Chamber of Commerce
  • Providing Christmas turkey dinners to those in need
  • Renovating and maintaining the town's welcome arch
  • Raised $10,000 to purchase food for the Camden Area Food Pantry
  • Raised $4,000 to replace Meals on Wheels' 20-year-old delivery containers with new meal transporters, including heated ones for longer delivery routes
  • Raised $10,000 to help buy a new critical care monitor for LifeFlight of Maine, which provides emergency services and response throughout the state
  • Raised $10,000 for MidCoast Habitat for Humanity's weatherization program
  • Raised $10,000 to support Camden Hills Regional High School students' 8-year effort to plan, fund and install a 150-foot tall wind turbine at the high school (this project placed 3rd out of over 400 entries in an international competition sponsored by Volvo)
  • Raised $25,000 to help fund new lifts, trails and other improvements at the Ragged Mountain Recreation Area and Camden Snow Bowl, a community-owned ski and recreation area
  • Other worthy causes we have supported in recent years include the Camden and Rockport public libraries, a local historical society, Literacy Volunteers of MidCoast Maine, the Camden-Rockport Animal Rescue League (now PAWS), Coastal Opportunities workshop for adults with developmental disabilities, MidCoast Children's Services, Pen Bay Hospital, local Little League teams, Merryspring Nature Center, Tanglewood 4-H Camp and Learning Center, and many others
