Camden Rotary Club

Charitable Giving 2009-10

Hello Fellow Rotarians,
Let me start of by exclaiming what a wonderful day it is here in Maine! Could it be any better? Sure, as Rotarians we are always looking for ways to make things a little better for someone, somewhere, somehow.

Here is where we need your help.   Announced at last weeks meeting and in a recent e-mail I sent out, our new Community Support Process is ready for implementation before the end of the month (Rotary year).  The list below was compiled from a list of recipients and/or candidates for our charitable donations over the past several years.    We would like to take this opportunity to solicit additional candidates for this years giving.   Please review the list and if you see an organization that is not represented here and you think it should be, please call or send me an email with the name of the organization so we can add it to the list.   I am also happy to take your suggestions at today’s meeting.

Please get your additions to me by Tuesday, June 15th.    Following that we will send out a ballot for your vote which we would like to count on June 21st and announce the 5 recipients at our Annual Dinner on the evening of the June 28th.

Note, each club member gets one vote, and the top 5 organizations will each receive a donation of $1000 each.  If you are passionate about one or more of these possible recipients, start campaigning for votes with your fellow members.

Reach Within to Embrace Humanity ~ RI Theme 2011-12

RI-2011-12-Theme RI President-elect Kalyan Banerjee will ask Rotarians to Reach Within to Embrace Humanity during the 2011-12 Rotary year.  Banerjee unveiled the RI theme during the opening plenary session of the 2011 International Assembly, a training event for incoming district governors.  He urged participants to harness their inner resolve and strength to achieve success in Rotary.

"In order to achieve anything in this world, a person has to use all the resources he can draw on. And the only place to start is with ourselves and within ourselves," Banerjee said.

Once Rotarians find their inner strength, he continued, they can accomplish great things in their communities and around the world.

"Discover yourself, develop the strengths within you, and then unhesitatingly, unflinchingly, go forth and encircle the world, to embrace humanity," he said.
