From Croatia With Love :)

Hi guys!
I am back in croatia. I came a couple of days ago but I had no time to write an e-mail.
These last few days I spent with my parents, my sister and her family. It felt really good seeing them. They all came to the airport to see me and I was surprised they were all able to come! Driving from the airport to my house was really exciting because my nephew kept asking me about America and my pins and my rotary jacket. I can't believe how tall he is!

It feels weird speaking Croatian right now. When I first heard some people speaking I felt as though I was in the movie. haha and my sister told me that I have an American accent. Every other word I say is in English. But I miss speaking it. Also I keep waiting in the morning to hear my host sisters opening my doors, or to smell leni's chocolate chip cookies :) etc. We went by mc donalds yesterday and I started shouting yey it's mcdonalds, and when they asked me what I like the best I said Oreo mcflurry (that was my last ice cream in America.). Sometimes I would say "in America we would..."

I am glad that I am here and I get to see everyone but I really miss Maine. I miss my friends, my families, the school. And some things I did there and not here make everything a little harder. Also because I'm in a city now I really start to feel like there are too many houses around. haha
I wanted to thank you for everything. I can't believe how much I gained on this exchange. And I will never forget it! Youth exchange is the best program ever and I am so glad I was a port of it!
I would love to write some more but my nephew keeps asking me to go play baseball with him. Ever since yesterday when I showed him my red sox baseball ball (I know it's called baseball but it still doesn't make any sense calling the ball and the sport the same name) and we played a little he wants to play it. What a talent. :)

I hope I hear from you soon!

Reach Within to Embrace Humanity ~ RI Theme 2011-12

RI-2011-12-Theme RI President-elect Kalyan Banerjee will ask Rotarians to Reach Within to Embrace Humanity during the 2011-12 Rotary year.  Banerjee unveiled the RI theme during the opening plenary session of the 2011 International Assembly, a training event for incoming district governors.  He urged participants to harness their inner resolve and strength to achieve success in Rotary.

"In order to achieve anything in this world, a person has to use all the resources he can draw on. And the only place to start is with ourselves and within ourselves," Banerjee said.

Once Rotarians find their inner strength, he continued, they can accomplish great things in their communities and around the world.

"Discover yourself, develop the strengths within you, and then unhesitatingly, unflinchingly, go forth and encircle the world, to embrace humanity," he said.
