Summer Concert ~ Music By The Sea

~This year’s Music by the Sea concert raised $13,500 for our two chosen projects -

CHRHS Windplanners and LifeFlight of Maine.

~ Thank you for your contributions in making this a success!

Each summer the Camden Rotary Club hosts a free public concert to celebrate our country’s independence, our community, and to help raise money for worthy local causes. Rotary raises money from its members, from community businesses and from individuals in order to contribute to organizations such as Coastal Family Hospice Volunteers, Coastal Opportunities, Meals on Wheels, Camden Area District Nursing Association and deserving area students, to name but a few

This year the Camden Rotary Club has decided to support two local projects to help improve our community. Our goal is to raise funds to support the Camden Hills Regional High School Windplanners program, which will erect a wind turbine on the school campus; and LifeFlight of Maine, which provides helicopter transport of critically ill and injured patients in the Midcoast Maine area and its surrounding islands.

Reach Within to Embrace Humanity ~ RI Theme 2011-12

RI-2011-12-Theme RI President-elect Kalyan Banerjee will ask Rotarians to Reach Within to Embrace Humanity during the 2011-12 Rotary year.  Banerjee unveiled the RI theme during the opening plenary session of the 2011 International Assembly, a training event for incoming district governors.  He urged participants to harness their inner resolve and strength to achieve success in Rotary.

"In order to achieve anything in this world, a person has to use all the resources he can draw on. And the only place to start is with ourselves and within ourselves," Banerjee said.

Once Rotarians find their inner strength, he continued, they can accomplish great things in their communities and around the world.

"Discover yourself, develop the strengths within you, and then unhesitatingly, unflinchingly, go forth and encircle the world, to embrace humanity," he said.
