JULY BOARD MEETING RECAP
The 2019-2020 Board had its first meeting of the new year and discussed upcoming community service projects including the Hurricane Island trip on August 4 and Windjammer Pancake Breakfast on August 31. We also discussed the financial health of our Club: our Club’s total assets are just over $29,000 and the Foundation’s assets are over $463,000. Over the course of the next year, we will be reviewing how we invest our significant assets in the community, particularly as we begin exploring what we want to do for our Centennial Project in 2025.

HURRICANE ISLAND COMMUNITY SERVICE TRIP
Plans are underway for a community service trip to Hurricane Island on Sunday, August 4. We will depart via Equinox Water Taxi (120 Tillson Avenue, Rockland) at 8:00 a.m. and come home on the 3:00 p.m. taxi. Cost will be approximately $30 per person (including lunch), depending on the number of passengers. We have just 12 spaces left on the Equinox, so sign up soon! Please contact Paul Fiske at pwfiske7@comcast.net.

COMMUNITY NEWS
Asylum seekers in Portland
The First Congregational Church is collecting supplies for delivery to the asylum seekers in Portland. They need:
  • Clothing (sandals, shoes, socks, hats, gloves, underwear, warm clothes, shirts, pants, baby clothes, lightweight or fleece blankets, suitcases)
  • Hygiene items (soap, skin lotion, towels, toothbrushes, toothpaste, menstrual pads, tampons)
If you would like to contribute, please pre-sort by item and size (if possible) and clearly label boxes or bags "PORTLAND REFUGEES" before leaving them on the state in the Pilgrim Room (where we hold our weekly meetings).

Do you have news about your community engagement that you would like to share with the rest of the club? Please e-mail dlebson@evergreenphilanthropy.com.
