International Service

International Service gives us an opportunity to help others around the world, and at the same time learn from those opportunities. Each year our club typically donates between $5,000 to $7,500 to the Rotary Foundation's efforts to fight hunger, reduce child mortality, promote peace, improve basic education and literacy, and eradicate polio. Our club's other efforts in this area have been modest, but rewarding when we hear back from those we have assisted. In recent years we have:

  • Helped sponsor a high school student in Lesotho through Qholaqhoe Mountain Connections. Many students in this program travel by foot one to two hours over mountain trails to get to school, and then face a similar trip home.

  • Sponsored many international youth exchanges.
  • Made a contribution to our local Interact Club's service and learning trip to Safe Passages in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
  • For more information about Qholaqhoe Mountain Connections and Safe Passages, please see the "New Generations" page and the links at the left.
